Radio – On the Air

Back in 60s, 70s and even the 80s, radio was the only means of entertainment and only resource for news and weather, commentaries of cricket test matches, election results and music. As every household had a radio player, there was quite a variety of programs. Even in small villages in India, people who didn’t have a radio of their own would go to their local restaurant or barber shop to hear one.

Many people could not afford a radio in those days, so when somebody in the neighborhood did buy one, they used to show it off as an important and valuable asset.

The radio has now disappeared from homes, as how television is the main source of entertainment, news, cricket, films and sports.

It is very rare for people to buy a radio these days, as radios can be available on mobile phones, televisions and the internet. The aim and objective is the same, though the look of the radio has changed.

Many of us still listen to the radio in our cars, especially for sports, weather, traffic news and music.

Many people still use the radio at work, especially in small factories or car repair garages or shops. House wives listen to the radio in the kitchen when they are busy with cooking. The radio has not actually disappeared as people have a love for radio, and it does fulfill a basic need for entertainment, but it will probably disappear in the next 15 years, just like music records.

The charm of the radio is great. Let me give you my experience. I grew up in India in small towns where farmers and and laborers would have an old banger of a radio hanging from a tree and playing music and news. The farmer would listen to the radio while keeping an eye on the workers, and workers would enjoy the music while keeping a distance from the farmer.

In India, back in the 1970′s, we used to listen to the BBC world service regularly, and news given on the BBC is the true and factual news.

We would wait for the BBC news before believing it to be true if, say, Indira Gandhi had lost the general election, or indeed there was an assassination of Indira Gandhi.

Some good old things last forever, and it becomes part of your life. I can still remember the whisper of an old radio 95.8 FM. The BBC World News was at 5pm every evening. “And this is your favorite host… give us five minutes and we will give you the world… the news every hour on the hour…”

Radio Control Boats
There are many great hobbies out there, though some would argue that one is more fun than the other. Let’s take radio control boats as an example. This is a fine hobby to say the last, and it offers quite a few avenues of excitement. Before you rush out to buy any RC boats however, there are a few things you ill need to look at, and you will of course need to determine just what you are looking for when it comes to radio control boats. If you are new to the world of RC boats, you’re definitely in for some great surprises!

Before you start, you will need to determine whether you want to purchase an RTR boat or a model kit. RTR stands for: Ready to Run, and they come in one piece. That being the case, you can take them out of the box and drop them in the water after the charging period. If you want to go with a model kit however, you will need to do a bit of work. The obvious question here is why you would go with a model kit when RTR boats are easy enough to start with.

The benefits of using model kits for radio control boats are numerous. For one, you will be able to choose the power source, and in addition to that you can choose the aesthetic of the boat. This is a luxury that the RTR boats would not allow you, and you might just find that there is a specific style you want that is only available in a motor type that you don’t want.

On the subject of motor types for radio control boats, there are two. The first and most obvious type is electric, and this is actually the cheaper alternative as you can recharge the battery as many times as you need to. The one problem however is that the batteries tend to die quickly, and these motors do not have the same level of power as their petrol counterparts.

A gas engine might be a good choice if you’re looking for high power levels or simply a sense of authenticity. These are more expensive, and they can be a bit more dangerous for beginners, but most who own them find that they are superior in almost every way to the battery operated boats. That being the case, you might want to look into a gas powered RTR or model once you get a bit more experience under your belt.

Owning radio control boats is fun, operating one is even more fun. If you’re looking for a new hobby or something to pass the time with, then try this one on for size and see where it takes you. There is plenty of open water to travel!

What is Satellite Radio
Satellite radio is still a somewhat new concept to the modern world. Gone are the days of hopping in the car, turning on the radio and listening to endless commercials without even hearing a single song. Satellite radio is very similar to the concept of pay-per-view television. In exchange for a membership fee, you receive virtually commercial free programming specifically based on your desire.

Satellite radio companies own exclusive rights to certain content, including some sporting events. This means that the only way to hear a game being broadcast may be to subscribe to that service on satellite radio. The same is true of various other content, including the recent move of Howard Stern exclusively to satellite radio. His talk show will only be available through a paid subscription and will no longer be broadcast on regular television or radio programming.

Membership fees range from several dollars per month to several hundred dollars for a lifetime membership. The decision of how to pay is at the sole discretion of the consumer. If you plan to be a lifetime customer, and have the cash to spare, there is no doubt that a lifetime membership will pay for itself over time. If, on the other hand, you’re new to the concept and just want to try it out, many satellite radio companies offer a free trial or low monthly fees to get you started.

The concept of satellite radio derives from, as the name implies, receiving satellite signals to direct certain programming into a radio. This can be a portable gadget, such as a small radio, or it can be installed in your vehicle or even heard through satellite television. Satellite radio provides more than five dozen channels, also known as streams, of music and fifty-five channels featuring sports, news and entertainment broadcasting. Music offered includes virtually every genre and is available every day, all day and is commercial free. With a typical Sirius radio, the consumer will be able to see the song and artist information displayed on their digital screen while listening to the music.

Satellite radio is a new trend that is sure to become a permanent fixture in the industry. With technology making new advancements at every turn, more and more people will look to satellite radio for their listening pleasure. Everything from sports and entertainment to talk shows and music are becoming the exclusive property of this new technology. Companies compete for the best programming, offer multi-million dollar contracts for big name agreements and are spending the big bucks to ensure that people keep tuning in to their station.

Internet Radio About Judgments

There are several ways you can learn about judgments and their recovery. Ways to learn include the internet, as well as free and paid judgment forums, books, etc. However, sometimes you want to ask one question, or simply listen to good conversations about judgments.

Now there is at least 1 (free) web radio station with a “judgment showcase”, where one can listen live, and call in and ask questions. One can also download shows as MP3 podcasts and listen to the judgment shows at your convenience.

Live radio shows often have a different guest every week, with call-in numbers where anyone can ask questions. One can even email questions, that the host or their guests will answer and discuss on the shows.

Guests on such shows include private investigators, attorneys, training providers, process servers, judgment recovery specialists, judgment lead providers, and other professionals related to judgment enforcement.

One judgment-related web radio show happens each Monday at six PM Pacific, nine PM Eastern time.

One advantage of internet radio is you can hear it anywhere in the world, at your schedule.

On a judgment show, you can ask almost any question. Be aware, the hosts and guests are usually not attorneys, and you should consult with an attorney if you want legal advice.

Judgment-related internet radio shows are helpful for those learning the judgment recovery business, and for experienced judgment enforcers to keep up on current topics. The best part of a judgment-related live show is you can ask questions about enforcing your own judgment. The judgment enforcement business is not a get rich quick business. However, this business can be learned, and internet radio shows, judgment teleconferences, and forums are a good way to start learning for free.

I think the old-fashioned broadcast radio stations are going the way of newspapers.

Podcasts are becoming popular faster than ever. The old broadcast radio stations are beginning to struggle. I read that seventy million people now listen to podcasts. The handwriting is on the wall, internet radio and podcasts are the future.

Some internet radio stations are live (except for the prerecorded music, station IDs, and commercials) so there are live-show glitches, such as silence, coughs, noises, and some ums, errs, and ummmms.

Often, live shows are edited later, to eliminate noises and improve sound quality. Any commercials are usually left in, that’s only fair. The edited MP3 podcasts of live shows are usually available within hours of the broadcast of the live show.

The internet has lowered the cost of broadcasting a radio show to affordable levels. Podcasts on specific topics will become more popular. Now, there is a live show and podcast on the subject of judgment recovery.

Measuring Internet Radio Traffic

Do you in the know which internet radio stations have made it to the top three? You may question the manner in which the performance of internet radio stations is measured. What technology is used and how data are validated are quite interesting topics when figuring out which internet radio stations are among the best and most listened to.

Ando Media is a company that helps internet radio station gauge their performance and at the same time converts their audience to sales. Some of its technology includes Webcast Metrics, Ad Injector and PodLoc. This company was founded six years ago and has since been purchased by Triton Media Group. Just recently, it released its ranking for August, the latest that they have so far which is based on the results given by Webcast Metrics platform.

Using a platform to monitor audience data, Webcast Metrics enables Ando Media to convert this data to metrics which makes it easier for station, publishers and advertisers to understand. Following, is a list of the three most listened to internet radio stations.

The number one position is owned by CBS Radio Inc. which includes AOL Radio and Yahoo LaunchCast registered to have 160,741 average active sessions. CBS Radio is the largest radio broadcasting company in the United States with in excess of 100 stations. It is a division of CBS Corporation. Its name has been changed as well as its partners through the years.

The second slot belongs to Digitally Imported Inc., it has sixty four thousand average active sessions. This company was one of the pioneers in the internet radio broadcasting industry which has been branded as one of the best electronic dance music radio stations on the internet.

It has 32 streaming music channels that play various types of dance songs.

The third ranked station is 977Music.com with an average of fifty two thousand active sessions. Both an online music and online radio station network, it provides eleven streaming internet radio stations playing the hits of the fifties up to the present. Considering, that it has the least number of stations available, it must have the most number of average active sessions per station compared to the two highest ranked stations. This rounds out the top three free online music stations.

Apart from the listening experience, 977music has integrated a social networking platform which allows its members to connect with each other sharing their passion for music. Each member is given his own social media profile on which he can create their own playlist of up to 1,000 songs. There is also a blog section where you can get just the essential information about the music you like as well as the top artist list and their biography for you to learn more about them.

The primary metric used to evaluate the performance of each station is the average active sessions, it is the average number of people that are listening to a station at any one point in time. This data is averaged, over a specific time period to yield the average active sessions metric.

With these metrics, each station’s performance can be measured and compared to other stations or to its own performance from a different time period.

FM radio transmitter Systems

An FM transmitter is a portable device that plugs into the headphone jack or proprietary output port of a portable audio or video device, such as a portable media player, CD player, or satellite radio system. The sound is then broadcast through the transmitter, and plays through an FM broadcast band frequency. Purposes for an FM transmitter include playing music from a device through a car stereo, or any radio.

FM is also used at intermediate frequencies by most analog VCR systems, including VHS, to record the luminance (black and white) portion of the video signal. FM is the only feasible method of recording to and retrieving from magnetic tape without extreme distortion a signal with a very large range of frequency components — a video signal has components from a few hertz to several megahertz.

A radio transmitter design is a complex topic which can be broken down into a series of smaller topics.

A radio communication system requires two tuned circuits each at the transmitter and receiver, all four tuned to the same frequency. The transmitter is an electronic device which, usually with the aid of an antenna, propagates an electromagnetic signal such as radio, television, or other telecommunications.

FM transmitters are usually battery driven, but some use the cigarette lighter socket in cars, or draw their power from the device itself. They are typically used with portable audio devices such as CD or MP3 players, but are also used to broadcast other outputs (such as that from a computer sound card) throughout a home or other building.

This product allows for very clear music, with good sound quality through your radio.

Also, it scans and sets your presets automatically for the radio stations that will work best according to where you are at (you can choose to turn this option off if you’d like). I have nothing negative really to say about it, other than I had to read the instructions to understand how all of the little options worked.

Now, it is time for you to own fm radio transmitter if you are a car owner , it is very fashionable and convenient, Which one might be your choice? Do you want to have a look? Many surprises here, you can choose anyone.

Understanding Radio Control Helicopters
When you are looking at radio control helicopters, you will quickly find that they are not a generalized item. Instead, these items come in a variety of styles and sizes and can even range in the type of energy that is used to assist them in flying. What you will want to consider is that each of these items can have their own unique use to you.

Perhaps the best choice you have is the electric models. You will find that these are the ones that most people will use because they are user friendly and they will give you the chance to learn the basics of RC toys. Using a simple set of internal mechanisms, you will operate them with your remote and they tend to be very responsive. For a power source, these items will typically have a rechargeable battery that you will be able to remove from them.

Inside of the remote and the radio control helicopters, you will find two different transmitters. These transmitters will give you the chance to adjust the way that your helicopter flies and can be either a simple internal system or a more complex one on larger, more expensive units. Many RC toys have a variety of options attached to them.

These radio control helicopters will come with some different axel options on them. For example, you can have a coaxial helicopter as it will have a single rotor that has been placed on the central axis. In some cases, there may be a secondary rotor on the tail, although it typically isn’t needed.

RC toys that use a fixed pitch radio control in turn don’t have a collective servo. This means that you cannot adjust their rotor. But since they operate on fewer channels, many beginners will find that they work out well. Just note that those who are looking to have shows with their helicopters won’t be able to do many of the acrobatics that some of the more advanced models will allow them.

While you are looking over your options, you will also notice that there is a variety of choices you have, just keep in mind that these units will use a variety of controls. You may have a remote control that uses transmitters to increase speed and height while a simple unit may do nothing more than help you steer your helicopter from left to right.

That will be important to keep in mind, because there are so many different choices that radio control helicopters will provide you. Before you continue through the process, sit down and consider what you want to be able to do with your RC toys. From that point, you will be able to not only locate the perfect choice for your needs, but you will also be able to make the most of your experience as well. Just be sure that you pay close attention to quality and durability when you select any unit as this can vary as much as the price of the unit can.

Welcome to Elite RC Helicopter, inside you will discover an amazing selection of low priced and excellent quality
radio control helicopters.

Nitro Radio Controlled Toys
Although remote controlled scaled down vehicles can be fun, even for adults, they are nothing compared to powerful nitro radio controlled vehicles. They are an excellent upgrade from RC’s powered by battery cells. What you’ll find under a battery fueled vehicle is completely different to that of a nitro fueled one, which usually includes an engine!

It’s one of the top reasons why many people start building nitro radio controlled scaled cars. Regular battery run RC cars are limited in terms of customization and they don’t need much work. When they run low, you just need to give them a charge or replace their batteries.

Now, this isn’t to say that to remote control cars aren’t fun. They can get pretty fast and some vehicles can do some cool tricks. Keeping speed in mind however, there’s nothing quite as fast or fun to build and customize than a nitro fueled remote controlled vehicle.

Walk into a hobby store and you will be wowed with such a wide selection of nitro radio controlled scaled models including drag racers, speedboats and stunt planes. It’s highly unlikely that you’ll ever find yourself becoming uninterested in nitro RC models. If you want to get stuck in, you can start building your own kit from scratch or choose a ready to run model that is fully constructed and needs only fuel.

Most people generally find that the satisfaction lies in building their own RC vehicles. Many people choose land vehicles because they’re easier to control and offer a huge amount of scope to customize and replace parts. Although scaled down, it can feel much like working on a real vehicle. You can choose your own tires, customize the body kit, choose the engine and a whole lot more.

Generally, a kit can take a day to finish, but for those that enjoy customizing their vehicles it can take much longer. Building nitro RC vehicles is more than a hobby. There are a number of organized conventions a year specifically for RC hobbyists to get together and talk about radio controlled models.

There’s always an opportunity to upgrade your RC model which keeps it interesting. There are enthusiasts who enjoy laboring over a huge build and turning their vehicle into a real beast on the road. Of course, the fun is also in the racing of nitro radio controlled vehicles and watching them really go. They’re incredibly loud and go at a blistering pace. Some top of the range RC’s can go beyond 70 kilometers an hour, which is seriously fast!

Radio Controlled Clock

A radio controlled clock offers many advantages over conventional clocks. They can keep perfect time without ever having to be adjusted. That’s right you never even have to adjust them for daylight savings time. This type of clock is found in all sorts of applications including wrist watches, wall, alarm and travel clocks.

How it clock works

Although some manufactures say their radio controlled clocks are atomic clocks this is not really true. An atomic clock is operated by a atomic oscillator, while a radio controlled clock has a small radio inside. The radio inside receives a signal from an atomic clock.

The signals received by most radio controlled clocks in America originate near Fort Collins, Colorado from the NIST radio station WWVB. The radio station broadcasts on 60KHZ frequency and the clock with its miniature radio inside is tuned to receive the signal.

The signal 60KHZ is located so far below most other radio signals that it is not interrupted by any other signals put out by radio or television.

The signals from radio and television stations are generally transmitted at no lower then 530KHZ. The 60 KHZ can not carry voice or audio and only transmits a code. The code that is broadcast is a binary code or bits and are sent at a slow rate of one bit per second. It is so slow that it takes a full minute to generate a complete time code. This slow rate is why the first time you set it may take up to five full minutes to show the correct time.

Once the clock has received and decoded the code sent from the radio station it will then apply a time zone correction so that it shows local time. The radio station provides the time as Universal Time.

When your clock is set and running for the first time it probably will not read the radio signal for at least 4 hours and more likely will only do so once a day. Instead it uses a quartz crystal oscillator to keep time.

Radio controlled clocks are very accurate time keepers that actually set themselves one or more times per day. They use a 60KHZ low frequency signal from a radio station to set themselves so they are always right even during daylight savings time.
